A Bit of History

The honey bee arrived in North America with the British. The Native Americans didn’t have a name for the foreign creature, so they called it the “white man’s fly.” Eventually, the honey bee migrated ahead of the white man; when the Native Americans saw the honey bee, they knew the white man would follow. Through history, honey has been used as a preservative, medicine, flavoring, salve for irritated skin, and contraceptive.
