A Bit of History

Bridge was the game to play in the 1920s-1950s, where players sat around tables for entire evenings. Snacks needed to be small enough to eat with their fingers without putting down their cards. Licorice bridge mix was one of a few favorites.

Licorice began with the licorice plant, which came to the U.S. in the 1600s with the British, and whose root was perfect as a tooth paste, spice, and, in the 1800s, a candy.
