A Bit of History

The cordial was a pleasant alcohol drink, used as a medicine in the 1400s. In the 1700s, the French made cordials- alcohol drenched cherries enrobed in chocolate. By the 1860s, Americans made their own Cherry Cordials: the candy became alcohol free, yet maintained the name of its sassier parent. By the turn of the century, the cordials became a gift of courtship and love.
