Handmade 1920s Cherry Cordials
A long-time Valentine’s Day favorite, these cherry cordials are sweet and succulent with rich dark chcolate. They’re handmade from an original 1920’s recipe and come in an elegant truffle box with six sweet and creamy candies. Perhaps the only thing more impressive than the candy is the history. The cordial was a pleasant alcohol-based drink, used as a medicine in the 1400s. In the 1700s, the French made a different kind of cordial – alcohol drenched cherries enrobed in chocolate. By the 1860s, Americans made their own Cherry Cordials: the candy became alcohol free, yet maintained the name of its sassier parent. By the turn of the century, the cordials became a gift of courtship and love. Always good to share.
