Authentic Fruit and Nut Bridge Mix

It’s no wonder bridge players were so addicted to this mix that they provided the name for the assortment of rich, chocolate-covered raisins, nuts, and malt balls. A variety of flavors, all of them delicious! Comes in a 4 oz heat-sealed bag with the history on the label.

A Bit of History

Bridge players in the 1920s-50s sat around tables for entire evenings obsessed with their favorite game. Put down their cards to eat? Forget it! Then Bridge Mix came along – pieces so small they could snack with one hand and hold their cards with the other.

For thousands of years, people covered nuts and seeds with sugary shells, dating back to the anicient Romans. The early sugar plum of the 17th century was actually a small nut or seed with layers of sugar – often taking weeks to make. When machinery made chocolate smooth and easy-to-manage in the late 1800s, candy-makers coated nuts, caramels, marshmallows and other tasty treats with chocolate. And from this… the Bridge Mix was born.
