A Bit of History
The Biblical term for honey, “dvash”, usually referred to a thick grape, fig or date syrup rather than honey from bees. A tall, elegant tree, the date palm was esteemed for its beauty: many envisioned the palm as reaching to the eternal heavens. The bountiful date fruit was esteemed for its flavor and nutritional value.
“The walls were decorated with carvings of cherubim, each with two faces and of palm trees alternating with cherubim.”-Ezekiel 41.18
