A Bit of History
The Chuckle, invented in the U.S. in 1931, eventually found their way into the food of soldiers deployed abroad. A descendent of Turkish delight.
The Turkish Delight was made around 900 CE and enjoyed for hundreds of years as a throat remedy and later a sweet. In the mid-1800s candy-makers in Boston added a sugar shell – that candy became the jelly bean. Soon after, in 1921, a German candy-maker created the Gummi Bear, the first of the gummy candies. Chuckles followed ten years later.
